Course Overview

The course introduces students to the history, culture and identity of contemporary France by examining key moments and themes in the development of France as a political and cultural entity from the Early Modern period to the present.

Course Description

This course aims to give students a better understanding of the nature of French national identity, of the French Republic, and of France’s position in Europe and the world. It will cover a range of texts and topics.
