This course is part of the pre-sessional programme that helps international students meet their language conditions prior to going on to their UG/PG programmes. Level 1 takes students from IELTS 4 – 4.5 [A2 high -B1 low]

Course Description

This course is the first part of the PSE programme that helps international students meet the university’s English language conditions.

This aim of the course is to develop all 4 skills. There is a particular emphasis on language development as well as a focus on pronunciation.

There is no resit option for this course as students do not need to pass level 1 in order to progress to level 2. The course provides formative feedback to students about the skills that they need to develop in order to meet the language requirements. Where students do not meet the projected target exit points for certain skills, they are given additional support to develop those skills.
