Course Overview

This course aims to provide students with creative and innovative opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of science concepts through modelling of approaches which can be used in the Primary classroom.  Students will also develop an understanding of the challenges of learning science and the pedagogical approaches which will support learners.

Course Description

Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of selected scientific concepts in preparation for teaching science.  Students will use digital tools to support their learning of science concepts.  Students will engage with experiential learning and will reflect on their own learning, linked to the teaching of science in the primary classroom.  Students will consider pedagogical approaches, policy and literature which underpin effective science education in Primary classrooms.  Students will work collaboratively to develop confidence in planning for teaching science whilst considering how to support learners.
