This course covers the essential theoretical and practical knowledge required for the understanding of the design of dental removable prosthodontics and its relevance to meeting the laboratory, clinical prescription and the patient’s expectations.

This course builds on the basic theoretical knowledge and practice in previous courses. Students are provided with more in depth theory and practice of dental designing. Dental milling and CAD are introduced. The principles and processes involved lead to discussion and debate regarding design theories. Students will demonstrate this knowledge in the laboratory setting in the decision making processes for design and manufacture of removable prostheses they provide for their clients patients.
The course fulfils the requirements for the Government Skills for Health National Occupational Standards for Dental technology.
