Course Overview

The course introduces the student to the techniques of manufacturing partial dentures. The associated dental biomaterials science and laboratory equipment are taught, demonstrated and applied appropriately. The introduction of denture design theory and manufacturing techniques.

Course Description

This course explains the theoretical and practical components of simple dental appliance technology and builds on the earlier course on primary techniques. Students are provided with further theory of dental materials. Students will demonstrate this knowledge in the laboratory setting in the design and manufacture of a variation of appliances to the dentist supplied prescription as part of the treatment for their patient.

 

The course content will cover the Government Skills for Health National Occupational Standards for Dental technology.
