Building on work done in FR 2002, the course will develop further language skills, both receptive (aural comprehension capacity through tuition based video material; reading comprehension through analysis of written French and translation into English) and productive (translation into French and oral language). Classes on grammatical and linguistic analysis will contribute to the further development of both sets of skills. In addition students will complete a structured self learning programme of aural study and grammatical reinforcement study.
Assessment will be based on a 2-hour written examination (75%) and an oral examination (25%). The written examination will consist of a prose and a Use of French exercise. The oral examination will test both comprehension and productive skills. However, satisfactory performance in the course work assessments will qualify students for exemption from the examination.
Information on contact teaching time is available from the course guide.
