Course Description

The course will consist of practical workshops that will prepare students with the pedagogical understanding and musical skills necessary for facilitating workshops themselves as musical practitioners in a range of contexts.

It will provide them with base-line skills in areas that will be necessary in their work as musicians engaging with a variety of diverse groups. Students on this course will have the opportunity to develop as practical musicians who understand both community resource and restrictions. Students will be encouraged to expand their own musical skills, abilities and understanding to enable them to develop as facilitators of participatory music making across a range of contexts, styles, instruments and genres. Experience of working in groups and making music together is a large focus of this course.
