The major topic of this course is an introduction to modern methods of plastic structural analysis.
The rigid-plastic analysis of beams is introduced along with the upper bound theorem and their importance to engineering design.
Plastic Theory is then extended to the topic of simple frames.
The content of the course:
Plasticity of beams: Kinematics; upper bound theorem; interaction diagram.
Plasticity in frames: Non-sway and sway modes. Uniqueness theorem
Information on contact teaching time is available from the course guide.
