Course Overview

As part of the PGDE DLITE (Primary) programme, this professional placement provides further opportunity for students to apply and develop their knowledge of issues in Scottish Education and pedagogical theory. Students will develop the skills to support them as a critically responsive practitioner as they transition into their induction year.

Course Description

Students will further develop their professional practice by taking full responsibility for class teaching in a new context.  Considerations for professional development will be critically examined through practitioner enquiry, supported by professional reading and reflection.

Students who have been graded as unsatisfactory in SE 2A by the tutor will have an opportunity to overtake this in School Experience 2B (summative assessment). If a student received unsatisfactory report(s) in SE 1, i.e. they failed SE 1 and have entered SE 2 'at risk', a formative school interim report will be required (week 33) in addition to the tutor observed lessons (one in SE 2A and one in SE 2B). If required, a retrieval 5 week placement can be undertaken during September (weeks 5-9).
