Course Description

This course explores fiction as an approach to introducing scientific concepts to Primary children in a school context.

Students will explore a range of texts suitable for different stages of learning to identify the science content and to consider how this is communicated to the audience.  Students will then engage with experiential and collaborative learning to develop their knowledge and understanding of the science.

Developing this further, students will apply their scientific knowledge and previous critique of effective texts to create a story which is appropriate for the teaching and learning of science within the Primary classroom.  They will also present their ideas about supporting classroom-based activities for pupils.
