This course will introduce students to the key concepts of translation and interpreting and to the metalanguage of both disciplines.

Course Description

This course will:

Develop students' understanding of the explanatory and descriptive role of linguistics in relation to translation and interpreting.

Develop students' awareness of the requirements for translation and interpreting with regard to linguistc skills, subject knowledge and communication skills.

Develop students' awareness of translation and interpreting strategies.

Raise students' awareness of the social role of translators and interpreters.
