This course considers aspects of international trade law and addresses the legal and practical difficulties that may arise in this context. It focuses on the law and practice relating to international sale of goods, international carriage of goods, insurance, financing of international trade, and international commercial dispute resolution by litigation and arbitration.

Course Description

This course will consider aspects of international trade law and focus on the legal and practical issues that may arise in this context. The particular issues selected will vary depending on current developments in the field. However, the indicative topics covered by the course will be the key contracts in international trade law; sources of international trade law; trade risks; international sale of goods (including the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG)); international carriage of goods (with emphasis on carriage of goods by sea); insurance matters; financing of international trade (including letters of credit); trade digitalisation; and international commercial dispute resolution by litigation and arbitration.
