Course Overview

The course introduces the student to the evidenced based research into the social, cultural and environmental issues that affect patient’s health. The course also looks at the broader sociological, behavioural, environmental and economic factors involved. The effect these factors have on laboratory leadership, management and manufacturing is investigated.

Course Description

This course explains the theoretical component of dental public health and its effect on clinical practice. Students are provided with the theory of disease and prevention as well as research and evidence based guidance. The course also looks at leadership and laboratory management. It explains the foundation for knowledge of this subject.  Students will demonstrate this knowledge in the laboratory management of the manufacturing and client service processes.

 

This course content fulfils the Government Skills for Health National Occupational Standards for Dental Technology.
