Course Description

Students will gradually build responsibility for teaching, learning and assessing though initially observing in a wider school setting. With support they will then begin to plan, implement and reflect on learning and teaching within their subject area/s with consideration for future practice based on practice, policy, professional dialogue and enquiry.

Feedback

Students who have failed School Experience 1, i.e., students who have been graded as unsatisfactory overall by the tutor and/or school, will have an opportunity to overtake this in School Experience 2. However, they will be deemed to be ‘at risk’ going into SE2 and will automatically have two tutor visits in SE2, and an Interim Report from the school will be requested at the end of SE2A.

SE 2 course structure

- SE 2A (weeks 29-33)

- SE 1B (weeks 40-42).

 

Students who have been graded as unsatisfactory in SE 2A by the tutor will have an opportunity to overtake this in School Experience 2B (summative assessment).

 

If a student received unsatisfactory report(s) in SE 1, i.e. they failed SE 1 and have entered SE 2 ‘at risk’, a formative school interim report will be required (week 33) in addition to the tutor observed lessons (one in SE 2A and one in SE 2B).

For all placements:  Pass or fail only. Not assessed using CGS.

 

Students who receive unsatisfactory reports in SE1 will not require a resit as this can be overtaken in SE2.

 

On completion of SE 3, if required, a retrieval 5 week placement can be undertaken during September (weeks 5-9)
