Course Overview

This course aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the individual and additional needs of children.  Students will explore factors that give rise to the many different needs of children and different approaches to meeting them in a Primary classroom.

Course Description

Students will explore a range of ASN as well as the need for differentiation in learning & teaching approaches for all children to provide equal opportunities and equal access to the curriculum. Students will explore the barriers to learning that give rise to the wide range of ASN including physical & socio-economic.  Students will explore approaches to meeting these needs within a Primary classroom including organisation and behaviour management techniques/ strategies.  The course will provide an opportunity to gain broad knowledge and understanding of antecedents or underlying causes of children’s challenging behaviour as well as opportunities to study an aspect of ASN in more depth and detail.
