The course introduces the student to the basic laboratory skills used in the production, modification and repair of dental appliances. The subjects taught are essential topics for quick integration into the laboratory working environment. Associated dental biomaterial science is introduced to complement the learning.

This course explains both the theoretical and practical component of the basic laboratory procedures encountered by a trainee. This allows them to integrate quickly into the dental laboratory environment. Students are provided with the theory of impression taking. Theory and practical knowledge of model casting, blocking out, record blocks, special trays, denture mould forming, acrylic resin processing, abrasion and polishing of the processed dentures are introduced. Trainees also cover the theory and practical knowledge for the repair, addition and relining / rebasing of dentures.
