Course Description

The fundamental aim of this Senior Honours French language course is that the students achieve a very high level of both receptive (reading and listening) and productive (writing and speaking) skills in French.

Exercises are designed to help students achieve very high levels of comprehension of both the spoken and written language and to increase their sensitivity to linguistic variety.

Students will be able to use the French language in its written and spoken forms with a very high degree of both fluency and accuracy in a wide range of registers.

The skills practiced in Junior Honours (translation from and into French, composition in French) will be further improved in two weekly classes by presenting the students with more challenging translation passages with greater variety of lexis, syntactical patterns, style and register (Hour A) and by practicing oral presentations as well as increasing the demands posed by the composition or essay in terms of length, content, sophistication of argument and [removed]Hour B).
