This course aims to develop an understanding of the psychology of sport and exercise. Current theories, research and practices will be presented as the framework within which this subject area continues to develop. In addition, approaches to improve health and well-being will be studied. Students will learn key theories about behaviour and behaviour change, including behaviour change techniques, and try them out to improve their own health and well-being.
This course can only be taken by students studying Exercise and Health Science.

1st Attempt: 1 three-hour essay examination (70%) and in-course assessment (30%).
Resit: 1 three-hour essay examination (70%) and previous continuous assessment (30%).

Essays will be marked with written comments. Problem solving questions will be discussed during tutorials. Tutorial sessions will provide feedback on course content. Students are given general feedback on performance following presentation of journal article review.
