Course Description

The course will develop the range and accuracy of students' language used in a generic scientific context. It will develop all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) in order to support students' learning on the International BSc Foundation Programme.

Summative Assessments

1st Attempt: 40% continuous assessment (portfolio of written and oral tasks), 40% written exam and 20% oral exam. Resit: 80% written exam and 20% oral exam.

Formative Assessment

The nature of portfollio assessments allows students to receive on-going formative feedback. In addition ITB based learning packages will enable students to test all 4 skills. Usage of this package can be monitored by the tutor.
