This course is a follow-on course to the Level 3 Course on Design of Structural Elements (EG3519) (and to some extent the Level 3 Civil Engineering Design (EG3720)). It covers four main areas:
a) Design of Industrial Buildings in Structural Steelwork
b) Design of steel-framed multi-storey buildings
c) Design of domestic buildings using masonry and timber
d) Design of pre-stressed concrete

1st Attempt: 1 three-hour written examination (90%) and continuous assessment (10%).
2nd Attempt: 1 three-hour written examination (100%).
The continuous assessment consists of two multiple choice tests, half way through the course and at its end.
The answers for the multiple choice class tests, that form the continuous assessment element of this course, will be posted on MyAberdeen. Generic feedback for the exam will also be posted, and students can request more detailed and specific feedback from the Course Tutor. Tutorial and feedback sessions run weekly throughout the course where students can request assistance with and feedback on their progress with the coursework.
