This course further develops knowledge and understanding of national policies and priorities in education, relevant to inclusive education classroom practice. Students will extend their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum in Scottish schools and further develop professional skills and abilities relevant to the transition to teaching.

The course is provided as a blended learning course, with a one day induction on campus, university tutor-led online learning, and face-to-face ‘Network’ days on some Saturdays within the local authority. This is a compulsory course for all DLITE PGDE students and is the first course within the DLITE PGDE Programme.
The follows on from the Learning and Teaching in Schools: Developing Professional Practice 1 course, extending the consideration of different aspects of professional practice and factors impacting on the education of young people.
This course is ONLY for those who have been accepted onto the DLITE (Distance Learning Initial Teacher Education) PGDE Programme, in partnership with a local education authority.
This course runs in parallel with the School Experience 1B course, in the first-half semester of the second academic year of the DLITE PGDE programme of study.
A PVG check is mandatory for all students taking this course.
