MU3024: PERFORMANCE 5 (2016-2017)

Course Overview

This course​ develops individual instrumental/vocal and also ​​ensemble skills.  Students work on one-to-one basis (20 x 1 hour lessons) with a specialist instrumental / vocal tutor ​on their principal study. Alongside instrumental and vocal lessons students are required to join one of the department's many ensembles working in weekly rehearsals towards high quality public performances. The course is assessed by a 20 minute recital and a tutor report. 

Students must have achieved a CGS award of B3 or higher in year 2 in order to be able to progress to this course in year 3.

Course Description

To provide students with the competence and versatility in instrumental and vocal skills which will enable them to perform effectively as professional musicians;
to contribute significantly to students' personal, musical and professional development by expanding their creative, artistic and aesthetic potential;
to further students' personal development by encouraging high standards of accomplishment in performance.

Where students are studying more than one instrument/voice, they can elect in advance to have them equally weighted, or weighted in the proportion 70% (main instrument) and 30% (second instrument) for purposes of assessment.
