This is the second half of the second year Gaelic language course for students who are relatively fluent in the language already and have studied it to at least Higher in school (Higher Gaelic or GĂ idhlig) or similar level. It follows on from GH2013.

Course Aims
The course aims to enhance students' command of the formal structures of the Gaelic language at morphological and syntactic levels, as well as reinforcing their knowledge of the phonological and orthographic systems within the language. The course is designed to prepare students for the study of Gaelic language and literature at Honours level; to that end, the course builds on and moves at a faster pace than Gaelic Language 2A.

Course Content
This course builds on the work of Gaelic Language 2A. Each week students will take three hours of language classes. The formal language work will be designed to increase students' confidence in using higher-register language and will help students to improve their knowledge and understanding of accurate models of morphological and syntactic structures. The extension work will typically include reading texts, translation and writing about a wide range of topics in preparation for Honours study. The oral/aural work will involve natural conversation, discussion, debate, monologue, presentations, etc. in addition to listening to recorded materials, transcription and other exercises designed to improve students? understanding of authentic language.

40% in-course assessment: two language exercises (10% each), one 20% essay; and 60% examination.
