Course Overview

The subsea production systems course has been developed to give students a detailed understanding of the business decisions as well as the specialist hardware required to develop subsea oil and gas production systems in challenging environments.  

 

The course addresses the technical issues related to engineering, development, and production of oil and gas in subsea fields around the world.  A close linkage to the subsea industry is ensured through industry experts participating in the course delivery.

Course Description

The course provides detailed knowledge and understanding of the design and development of subsea production systems.

 

This course introduces students to various aspects of subsea production systems, including :

·         Subsea field architecture

·         Subsea hardware

·         Subsea project management

·         Subsea operations

·         Subsea reliability

·         Subsea processing

·         Subsea life extension and decommissioning

 

The course is enhanced by industry site visits and guest speakers from the subsea industry.

70% 1 three hour examination + 30% Continuous Assessment (Group Project).

There are no assessments for this course.

Feedback

Students receive written feedback on their group project coursework.  Whole-class feedback is also provided via MyAberdeen.  A mock exam, with solutions, will be placed on MyAberdeen to give students the chance to self-assess their own performance.
