Course Overview

Students enrolled in level 2/3 of the BSc Wildlife Management degree programme undertake six weeks of work experience relevant to the degree.

Regular contact with the course coordinator and the maintenance of a diary of activities provides a framework for reflecting on the experience. 

Preparation of a final report helps to consolidate learning and relate experiences to the business and scientific theory-studied in university-based courses.

Students will achieve a better understanding of the practical and commercial aspects of employment in the industry.

Details, including assessments, may be subject to change until 30 August 2024 for 1st term courses and 20 December 2024 for 2nd term courses.

Summative Assessments

1st Attempt: Report, 4000 words (100%). A report on a four-week period of such work must be submitted by the end of third year. Resit: Resubmission of report, 4000 words (100%).

Formative Assessment

Informal feedback will be provided to the student throughout the work experience through interactions with the supervisor and colleagues at the work placement.

Feedback

Informal feedback on the structure and content of the report will be provided to the student by the course coordinator prior to submission, either orally or in a written form. Written feedback will be provided on the report when it is marked.
