Course Overview

This intensive language course aims to introduce the fundamentals of the grammar and a basic working vocabulary of Swedish, and to give extensive practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will learn to interact in both dialogues and written language, and also get some cultural insight. The course is designed to give students a sound foundation in the language, enabling them to progress to SN 1502 and thereafter to level 2.

Course Description

This intensive language course aims to introduce the fundamentals of the grammar and a basic working vocabulary of a Scandinavian language, currently Swedish, and to give extensive practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will learn to interact in both dialogues and written language, and also get some cultural insight. The course is designed to give students a sound foundation in the language, enabling them to progress to SN 1502 and thereafter to level 2.

Further Information & Notes

Please note, this course is in Swedish. It is designed for beginners to Scandinavian Languages and is not available to native speakers. If you have previous knowledge of Swedish, please contact the course tutor Mrs Anna Bokedal for an assessment of which course is suitable for you. 
This course will be available as part of a Sustained Study programme in Scandinavian language.

Summative Assessments

Assessment 1st attempt: 1 two-hour written examination (70%); in-course assessment (30%)

Resit: 1 two-hour written examination (100%).

Formative Assessment

Weekly formative assessments of different aspects of written Scandinavian language.

Feedback

Written and/or verbal feedback is given on all assessments. Additional informal feedback on performance is also given in both written language classes and oral classes.
