This course offers an opportunity to study a theme in modern Hispanic culture. In 2015, this course will address: What does it mean to be indigenous in Latin America? The voices of indigenous groups have reached a global audience not only as a result of political activism but also through their cultural production over the past thirty years. As well as analysing “traditional” literary texts in this course, students will access new media to engage with contemporary indigenous hip-hop, art and film. It will be taught by Dr Sandra Collins.
