Course Description

This course is intended for students who have studied French to Higher or equivalent level, but whose knowledge may be rusty.  It will enable them to consolidate and extend their knowledge of French, written and spoken.   It lays equal emphasis on reading, writing, listening and speaking, and in general insists as much on accuracy as on fluency.  It  presents certain advanced grammatical structures and introduces techniques of translation.  It also offers students opportunities to improve their communication skills through group work, discussion and presentations.  There are three timetabled weekly hours: one written language hour in which students follow the same programme of work as FR1025; a further written hour for revision and consolidation of grammar; an oral language hour.  In addition, students follow a structured programme of private study, including both listening and grammatical material.

Further Information & Notes

This course may NOT be included as part of a graduating curriculum with FR 1023 or FR 1025.
