Course Description

The first part of the course explores Speaking and Listening in an Academic Context in which skills will be developed in understanding spoken information, researching additional information and then reporting orally in a seminar discussion. The second part of the course explores many of the sub skills required in order to successfully read and write in a University environment. It will follow the various steps involved in producing a longer piece of writing such as note-taking, summarising, paraphrasing, synthesising source materials and organising a longer piece of writing .
