  • fundamental biomedical scientists meet with advanced clinical practitioners to facilitate an enquiry and interest based learning experience; 
  • with an aging population and ever increasing number of children with complex health challenges, you will be prepared to progress along a range of careers threads and understand the dynamic interplay between individuals and their changing physiological, psychological, pharmacological and biochemical needs for lifelong health and wellbeing;

Course Description

This course is designed to provide advanced knowledge and insight, based on current scientific research, in the issues associated with the process of aging. Common diseases that are highly prevalent in the elderly will be investigated and lifestyle approaches that could affect those diseases will be considered.

Summative Assessments

1st Attempt: 1 two-hour essay examination (70%) and in-course assessment (30%). Continuous assessment comprises: 2 laboratory reports Resit: 1 two-hour essay examination (70%) and previous continuous assessment (30%).
