Last modified: 28 Jun 2018 10:27

Course Overview

Throughout the honours programme, you will be encouraged to reflect on your developing skills and knowledge as an art historian.  Through tutor-led and self-directed visits to various locations, the Fieldwork course will foster a wide appreciation of past and current issues in the art world, beyond the classroom.  The course will include not only a study of art and architecture but also a consideration of their context, display, function and interpretation.

Course Description

Fieldwork 2 continues the study of works of art and architecture in situ. A core element of the second part of this course is participating in an agreed, planned fieldtrip during one week in the first half-session, which could, for example, be to Paris. As at Level 3, students record and reflect upon their planned and independent visits in their Flog (Fieldwork Log). Selected reflections, reviews and analyses of works seen and public lectures attended during both parts of the Fieldwork course are presented in an ePortfolio, which forms the summative assignment of the course, and is written in an academic style.
