Medical Sciences masters programmes require core skills to achieve success. These skills include identifying appropriate research papers, reading and appraising primary research papers, academic writing, presenting and analysing data, and knowledge of methodologies used in medical sciences research.

This course delivers core skills required for successful completion of medical sciences masters programmes. Students will be supported to develop their literature searching skills, reference management and use of research papers. Written and oral communication, including academic writing, poster presentations and oral presentations, will be explored, as well as data presentation and analysis (statistics). Teaching will be delivered as a mix of lectures, workshops and tutorials.

Creation of a bibliography, presented in two different formats Literature searches will be carried out using a search engine and managed using an appropriate reference manager. Bibliography will be created and presented using will be uploaded in Harvard and Vancouver styles. The bibliography will be uploaded into MyAberdeen, with feedback provided via the “feedback to learners” box |
