This course is designed to enhance insight and understanding of the challenges and opportunities for the overall provision of health and social care to vulnerable groups and those with mental health problems in general healthcare systems. The course will enable the practitioner to assess and manage a patient with mental health issues through the implementation of management strategies and in alignment with the broader legal framework.

The course will provide the healthcare practitioner with the knowledge and skills to work effectively with these patient groups and their family carers in general healthcare during periods of crisis or when faced with complexity, upheaval, change or transition. The course will support the development of the knowledge and skills to address and support behaviours that challenge and require skilled working with carers or broader support networks.
