This course considers issues relating to international trade and finance law and addresses the legal and commercial aspects of export-import transactions. It covers trade risks and risk assessment, the law and practice relating to international sale of goods, carriage of goods and insurance matters, international trade finance, digitalisation of international trade and international commercial dispute resolution.

This course considers issues relating to international trade and finance law and addresses the legal and commercial aspects of export-import transactions. The particular issues selected will vary depending on current developments in the field. However, the indicative topics covered by the course will be the main contracts and risks associated with export-import transactions, Incoterms and bills of lading, the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) in comparison with the Sale of Goods Act 1979, international trade finance (including letters of credit and guarantee); and international commercial dispute resolution by litigation and arbitration.
