Course Overview

This course will identify various audiences, appropriate content and ways of communicating within organisations and institutions, with particular focus on the energy industry, law and law enforcement, emergency services and healthcare.  It will identify various purposes, types and modes of communication within organisations and institutions and consider communication plans as part of organisational and institutional strategic plans.

Course Description

The course will begin with an overview of organisational and institutional communication as reported in the literature. Students will then go on to consider communication within their own and selected other organisations and institutions considering the relationship between institutional roles and communicative behaviour and developing a sample communication plan in the context of the strategic plan of their organisation or institution.
