This course teaches intermediate/advanced statistical/econometric methods at the postgraduate level. Building on the basic quantitative methods that students have learned in previous courses, they will further develop their understanding of and practical skills for more advanced statistical and econometric methods.

This course covers theoretical foundations of a variety of statistical/econometric methods as well as their empirical, practical applications using computer software (e.g. Stata).
Topics include cross-sectional data analysis, panel data analysis, time series data analysis. The course discusses different methods of estimation, such as the least squares estimator, maximum likelihood estimator and instrumental variables estimator, and covers specification tests relating to these estimators.
