Course Description

In the first term, students were able to develop both their research skills and lab skills.  However, it is often the application of these skills within a team environment that is of greatest importance for many business sectors.  Therefore, in this module students will need to work as part of a small team in order to study a research problem.  The problem in question may involve practical work, data analysis/evaluation or a combination of both.  The project will be set within a commercial theme where students will work for a ‘client’.

Project format:

  • This is a 4-week project where the group will work for a client to solve a problem
  • Stage 1 – Mock client meeting to receive project brief
  • Stage 2 – Preparation of project plan based on project brief (written plan)
  • Stage 3 – Project execution (data collection & evaluation)
  • Stage 4 – Project presentation (present findings & recommendations, answer client questions)
