Core skills required for the MSc programmes in Medical Physics and Medical Imaging. These skills include academic writing, research methods (including statistics), mathematical skills required to reconstruct and process medical images as well as an understanding of the origins of radiation and its interactions with living tissues.

This course covers: core language skills such as, searching for literature, structuring essays and reports, and academic conduct (plagiarism etc); core maths skills for imaging such as algebra, calculus and matrices; core statistics and research skills and core physics skills such as radiation physics. There is also a study skills module to help students develop the skills required to successfully complete their MSc. Teaching involves a mix of traditional lectures, tutorial sessions and class activities. Assessment is through four pieces of coursework.

The student will be permitted to resit any of the four assessments that received a grade of less than D3. Since this is the resit (and therefore final assessment) feedback would typically only be provide (in person) if a student were to be granted another attempt on appeal. |
