Course Description

The course starts with a study of the various metrics that are used to characterise the quality of medical images, such as resolution, noise, signal noise ratio, contrast and contrast to noise ratio. The common medical imaging modalities (X-ray, Nuclear Medicine, MRI and Ultrasound) are then introduced and compared in terms of these metrics. In the latter part of the course we consider the common “imaging targets” for various disease processes and learn how to design an imaging study to answer a specific diagnostic or research question.
