Course Overview

Image processing and analysis includes many tools and techniques widely used in the field of Medical Imaging. Topics covered in this course include image formation, representation and display; image degradation and restoration; intensity processing; spatial and spectral filtering; image registration and fusion; simple object and shape recognition; segmentation; pattern recognition; image compression; 3D and 4D image rendering.

Course Description

This course aims to:

  • Develop a sound theoretical background in the fundamental techniques used in medical image processing and analysis.
  • Augment this basis by introducing some of the newest and state-of-the-art techniques in this area.
  • Provide experience in applying a range of these techniques to practical problems.
