Navigating the Museum Workplace prepares students for museum employment, involving input from a variety of practitioners at different career stages and in different areas within the museum sector. They will complete a two part assignment, totalling 3000 words, on their chosen role and CPD plan.

The course provides an opportunity for students to focus on the world of work, as well as on a specific area of the museum sector as a workplace which interests them. Across the course, they will be given teaching in potential museum roles, applications (including CVs, Cover Letters and Interviews), self-reflection and CPD planning, as well as being able to attend interviews with a variety of individuals at different stages of their museum career. The portfolio they produce will allow them to conduct a short piece of research on their own terms, focusing on their future potential roles in the sector.
