Course Overview

This course will describe the basic language of business and give examples of large versus small businesses in the bioscience area.  Intellectual property rights will be explained as will how present your business and how to set up a small biotech company.    A comparison will be made of the big Pharma business model and that of small biotech businesses.

Course Description

This course will describe the basic language of business and give examples of large versus small businesses in the bioscience area.   The importance of Intellectual Property (IP) will be presented. The course will provide a framework for setting up (spinning-out) a biotech business from a University and presenting this business to investors or commercial partners. Throughout this course, comparisons will be made to the stark differences seen between business models of global “big-pharma” and those of small, drug-discovery biotech companies.
