Students will undergo a course preparing them for the museum as a workplace, involving input from a variety of practitioners at different career stages and in different areas within the museum sector. They will complete a 6,000 word Career Portfolio as their assessment.

The course provides an opportunity for students to focus on the world of work, as well as on a specific area of the museum sector as a workplace which interests them. Across the course, they will be given teaching in potential museum roles, applications (including CVs, Cover Letters and Interviews), self reflection and CPD planning, as well as being able to attend interviews with a variety of individuals at different stages of their museum career. The portfolio they produce will allow them to conduct a short piece of research on their own terms, as well as practicing the career skills outlined above.
