Course Overview

The course is developed to prepare practitioners with a professional registration in healthcare for a clinical role as an advanced autonomous practitioner working within a range of settings such as pre-hospital, community, primary or emergency care.  The focus of this course is the development of specialist knowledge and skills related to clinical assessment, diagnosis, investigations, treatment and relevant referral pathways for patients presenting with undifferentiated range of emergency injury symptoms.

Course Description

The skills and knowledge gained from undertaking this course will enable to practitioner to demonstrate a high degree of complex decision making skills, expertise and knowledge in managing risk and safety in the clinical context and environment within their area or practice. The skills and knowledge gained from this course will enable you to competently assess patients with injuries requiring urgent assessment and management including referral if required.  The course will cover full musculoskeletal assessment, management and treatment including fractures, strains, sprains and dislocations.  It will also cover wound assessment and management, interpretation of blood results and x-rays as well as the professional, legal and ethical implications of this level of care. 

 

Aim:- To prepare the Practitioner for autonomous practice within defined protocols to asses, diagnose, treat, discharge or escalate care for the patient as appropriate.
