This course explores some of the key theoretical and practical concepts and ideas in sound art and electroacoustic compositions surrounding space. Particularly, the course focuses on immersive sound technologies from their initial conceptions to the most recent development and practical applications. Specifically, the course will introduce practical solutions in multichannel compositions and other types of immersive sound technologies, including ambisonics, that can be used in electronic music composition.

This course will explore theoretical and practical aspects of immersive sound technologies that can be used in electronic music and other new media.
By the end of the course, students will:
Be able to demonstrate theoretical knowledge and understanding of space in electronic music and immersive sound technologies;
Be able to acquire a wide range of practical and technical possibilities in immersive sound technologies;
Have a thorough understanding of the use of space in electronic music as well as a practical knowledge in immersive sound technologies, including ambisonic sound;
Be able to create a portfolio of electronic compositions based on immersive sound technologies.
