It provides essential knowledge as to the pathological and physiological background of disability and how this affects a person’s oral care
With regards to physical, medical, mental and learning disabilities it allows the student to develop an understanding of oral function and the oral manifestations of the conditions.
It allows the student to have an understanding of how medications may affect oral health and how such situations should be managed
