The Supply Chain Management course aims to provide delegates with a broad understanding of supply chain management and how it relates to the energy industry. Completing the course participants will: Understand how supply chains can be effectively designed and controlled in a range of circumstances; be able to evaluate approaches to the management and development of the supply chain; and discuss the characteristics of contemporary supply chains and assess their contribution to organisational effectiveness.

1. The end−to−end supply chain
Purchasing and supply, materials management and distribution management. Balancing flow within a supply chain. Managing bottlenecks and restrictions.
2. Sourcing
Make or buy decisions in sourcing strategy; supplier selection; vendor rating and sourcing; co−ordinating supply and managing supplier relationships; partnershipping.
3. Material Management
Key inventory management decisions. Materials requirements planning and enterprise resource planning. Bills of material, inventory records,and master production scheduling.
4. The customer interface
Meeting customer requirements. Distribution and fulfilment of strategies and systems. Market supply relationships, Management of queues, self−service. Virtual operations and direct fulfilment.
5. Contemporary supply chain dynamics
Planning and managing the supply chain. Strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships. Characteristics of high−performing supply chains in the contemporary global economy.
