This course intends to develop the student’s awareness of the fact that statistical techniques are central to the scientific method. The ability to formulate research questions in statistical terms and design informative experiments is essential in the planning and analysis of their project/dissertation work.
This course aims to equip students with knowledge of statistical principles and methods. In addition, the student will gain experience of analysing numerical data, presenting, interpreting and communicating numerical results. As a consequence this will enable students to assess and evaluate information they encounter during the MSc course, facilitate their ability to read scientific literature critically and utilise these skills to translate the findings to their own work.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
4. Apply the concept of statistical inference to health research
