Central to the application of clinical psychology are the clinical knowledge and skills required for the effective assessment, formulation, treatment and evaluation of a range of psychologically-based distress/mental health issues across the lifespan. This course builds on the knowledge gained during Clinical Psychology across the Lifespan – Core Areas by featuring clinical case studies and examples to introduce and bring to life key features of a range of more specialist and complex client presentations across the lifespan. Interactive workshops will enable students to further develop their understanding of key assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation techniques in current clinical psychological practice. Regular psychologist-led reflection sessions will enable students to reflect on and further consolidate their learning. A written formulation exercise, reflective piece of writing, poster presentation and role-play formulation exercises will enable students to benefit from active, shared learning and to demonstrate the practical application of their developing formulation knowledge and skills.
Students will be required to provide feedback and commentary to their peers in a variety of ways and will receive feedback on their contributions to group tasks and activities.
Information on contact teaching time is available from the course guide.
