Fundamental to the practice of clinical psychology are the processes of psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation for effective assessment and treatment of a range of psychologically-based distress/mental health issues. Using case examples, this course will help you develop your theoretical and practical understanding of these processes, with a focus on the development of your psychological formulation skills.

Central to the application of clinical psychology are the clinical knowledge and skills required for the effective assessment, formulation, treatment and evaluation of a range of psychologically-based distress/mental health issues across the lifespan. This course features clinical case studies and examples to introduce and bring to life key features of a range of client presentations across the lifespan in core clinical areas. Interactive workshops will enable students to develop an understanding of key assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation techniques in current clinical psychological practice. Regular psychologist-led reflection sessions will enable students to reflect on and further consolidate their learning. A written formulation exercise, reflective piece of writing, presentation and role-play formulation exercises will enable students to benefit from active, shared learning and to demonstrate the practical application of their developing formulation knowledge and skills.
Students will be required to provide feedback and commentary to their peers in a variety of ways and will receive feedback on their contributions to group tasks and activities.
